Rest in Peace Maggie

1996 - 2009

Maggie was owner surrendered to us on a Sunday afternoon, yet by evening, we knew something was terribly wrong. Her belly was tender to the touch and she obviously did not feel well.

We had already been told that Maggie had never been spayed, and that she had gotten out of her yard 30 days prior, so could it be that Maggie was pregnant and having problems?

She was rushed to our Vet's office for a physical exam and blood panel studies. The blood test results showed she had a massive infection. An abdominal Ultra-Sound showed possible problems with her uterus or an abdominal growth.

We were warned of Maggie's grave condition, but we insisted on the surgery being performed in an attempt to save her life.

Scottie Angels watched over Maggie that day. The surgery was successful and her recovery went well. In the short time since the emergency surgery, Maggie has become much more active, more playful, and most certainly thankful to have rid herself of these problems, all of which could have been avoided had she simply been spayed years ago.

Maggie had developed Pyometra, a life threatening inflammation and infection of the uterus. When removed, her uterus weighed over 2-1/3 pounds. In a healthy dog of her size, it should weigh under 8 ounces.

Today, Maggie is once again a spirited Scot, that craves attention, belly rubs, and playtime. In return, you will receive multiple kisses, tail wags and a lot of love that only a dog that had her life saved could give.

Maggie is 11 years young, and easily has the activity level of a 5 year old. She is going to make someone a very, very special companion. Are you the family that Maggie is searching for?

Scottie Kingdom Rescue is a 501(c)3 Non Profit Organization. We prefer to adopt to families with past Scottie, Westie and/or Terrier experience, but realize this isn’t always possible. You must have a secure & fenced yard.

We do not ship our pets. If you have that special place in your heart & in your home for a Scottie (or any of our other available Rescue Dogs), please be prepared to visit us in Dallas for an in person meet & greet session with our Available Dogs. If you have existing pets, they must travel to Dallas with you, so we can be assured that they will be compatible with the new addition to your family.
