We
are 6 month old Colina's last chance at a full life.
She has a heart valve defect that urgently needs repair or Colina will
not celebrate her first birthday.
We have arranged for the Cardiac Surgeons at Texas A&M University in
College Station, TX to perform her surgery, hopefully on Wednesday,
January 18th.
The surgeons that performed this same surgery on a baby Scottish Terrier
(Collin) for us last year, will do Colina's surgery.
Because we had such wonderful results with Collin's surgery, we have
named this little girl, Colina, which is the female version of Collin.
If you are able to help Colina have her surgery, please send her a

We prefer to adopt to families with past Scottie, Westie and/or Terrier
experience, but realize this isn’t always possible. You must have a
secure & fenced yard.
We do not ship our pets. If you have that special place in your heart &
in your home for a Scottie (or any of our other available Rescue Dogs),
please be prepared to visit us in Dallas for an in person meet & greet
session with our Available Dogs. If you have existing pets, they must
travel to Dallas with you, so we can be assured that they will be
compatible with the new addition to your family.

Updates on Colina's Condition ~
UPDATE: 1-11-06 - 1:00PM - Colina's condition has
deteriorated during the last 18 hours. She is being transported to Texas
A&M Small Animal Clinic today, where her Cardiologist is seeing her on
an emergency basis.
UPDATE: 1-11-06 10:00PM - Colina had a Doppler Study performed upon
her arrival at Texas A&M tonight. The diagnosis of Severe Pulmonic
Stenosis was confirmed, however, Colina's heart also has a Severe
Tricuspid Valve Leak at the Right Atrium and Severe thickening of the
Right Ventricle. She is resting comfortably and will remain in the hands
of the Cardiac Care Team at Texas A&M.
UPDATE: 1-12-06 - 1:00PM - Further tests were performed on Colina
today. Two small holes were found in the wall of her heart. She remains
at Texas A&M being monitored by the Cardiac Care Team.
UPDATE: 1-13-06 - 1:00PM - Colina is being transported back to
Dallas this afternoon so she is able to rest in familiar surroundings
over the weekend at her foster home. Final decisions are being made on
her condition and the possibility of surgery being of assistance to her.
UPDATE: 1-17-06 - 6:00PM
We have just spoken with Colina's
Cardiologist at Texas A&M. Her case has been reviewed by three
Cardiologists and it has been determined that surgery is not an option
for Colina. Her little heart is too damaged for surgery to be of
assistance to her. Colina will remain with us, in our newly formed
Hospice Care Program until she travels to the Rainbow Bridge.
UPDATE: 2-10-06 - Colina
celebrated her six month birthday today! Her Atenolol dosage (beta
blocker med) has now been doubled, per her cardiologists instructions.
With limitations, Colina is able to play outside for short periods of
time with some of the other Westies we have in our rescue program.
Happy
Six Month Birthday,
Little Girl
UPDATE: 2-12-06 - Colina has
taken a decided turn for the worse this morning. We are with her
every minute, but it appears she is going into cardiac failure.
UPDATE: 2-12-06
5.25PM
Colina Traveled to the Rainbow Bridge,
surrounded by her Scottie Cousins & Caregivers.
